Lance Corporal Kody Myles Archer was just 24 years old when he passed away on December 29th, 2021, with his loved ones by his side in Bethesda, Maryland. Kody was born on December 16th, 1997, to Brittany Blair and Shawn Archer in Webster, Texas.

Kody grew up like most other kids playing in his nana and papaw's backyard with his cousins in the pool, playing video games with friends, and watching movies. Kody was recognized as the "Clear Creek ISD Student of the week" in the Houston Chronicle the week of November 1-7, 2012, in which he said his "Favorite thing to do after school: Playing football with friends" and his "Ambition: I hope to one day be a Marine".

Kody was baptized alongside his mom, aunt, and cousins on December 24th, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Kody then went on to attend Kingwood High School and then transferred to the Texas Challenge Academy where he confirmed he was ready to join the military. Kody's father and both grandfathers served in the armed forces (Navy and Air force), which also influenced his decision to pursue a military career.

In his free time, Kody loved playing video games where he gained friends within his online community. His friends describe him as such a fun person to be around, always making them laugh and smile. He was always sending funny Tiktoks to his family via messenger to give us a good laugh. He also really enjoyed attending and working at the Texas Renaissance Festival where he enjoyed time with friends and family. Most of all, he loved to travel to see his family. No matter how short the drive, or how long the flight, he did what he could, when he could.

In 2019, after working extremely hard, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of joining the United States Marine Corps. After completing rigorous basic combat and some reconnaissance training, he was stationed in Quantico, VA as a Lance Corporal where he taught Weapons Combat Training to Officers.

On December 21st, 2020, Kody married the love of his life Devyn Espinosa, after being together for two years. While living on opposite ends of the country they always made time to see each other even if it was just for 2 days. One time Kody even rented a U-Haul van just to make sure they had a car to go sightseeing in, because there were no rental cars! Their love was truly one of a kind.

Kody is preceded in death by both his grandfathers, Dwight Blair(m.) and Mike Stamper (p.), and other family members.

Kody is survived by wife Devyn Espinosa of Seabrook, Texas; mother Brittany Blair; Father Shawn Archer; stepfather Michael Zales; stepmother Christina Manning; and sister Madisyn Williams. Other survivors include Grandmother and Grandfather Dianne and David Higginbotham; Grandmothers Gail Archer, Renee Hardesty, and Stephanie Stamper; Aunt Kim Blair; Cousins Maegan Brander and husband Shaw Brander, Mallorie Jones and husband Matthew Jones as well as their children Hunter and Benjamin Jones and many others who loved him dearly.

Kody's celebration of life memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 7500 Fairmont Parkway Pasadena, Texas 77505, Saturday, January 15th, 2022, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Kody will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery on a later date.
