June Carol Nichols, our beautiful and loving Mother completed her earthly journey and was returned to our heavenly Father, Monday, November 18, 2024, with her devoted family by her side.

She was born in Houston Texas, February 1, 1937, the second child to George Curtis and Angela Marie Anders of Pasadena. Her brother James "Sporty" Anders was born two years prior.

She was an artistic child, drawing, painting and writing poetry that touched the soul. and had a sweet soft, singing voice as well. She began singing in the church choir at St. Pius catholic church where she and her mother and brother Sporty, attended regularly. Her love for singing continued throughout her life, in many church choirs and Pasadena High School Choir where she graduated in 1955.

Shortly after graduating high school, June married Billy Paul Nichols in 1955 they had 6 children together, Renee', Angela, Carol, Paul, Curtis and Jeffery. Her family now complete, she encouraged us to go outside and play, perhaps to give her a break! Nevertheless, she allowed us to just be kids, we played hopscotch, jacks, hide and go seek and had china berry fights, we drank out of water hoses, played kickball, baseball in the backyard and broke many windows while doing it, yet she never complained about replacing them. She sang to us, read stories, danced with us and held our hands when we needed it. She allowed us to make mistakes and hoped we learned from them, she laughed with us and cried for us during troubled times. Always giving us home cooked meals, teaching us the importance of education, family and togetherness. All while working a full time job.

She retired from Sears after 25years of service where she received countless accolades for her workmanship as a display artist and manger. She eventually moved into the sales department and continued to receive awards for her excellent customer service and strong work ethics.

After retiring from Sears and finally having a little time for herself with her family, she discovered and had a knack for winning playing slots at Casinos. This kinda became a second passion of hers. We took casino trips as a family all year round, though she often traveled to Kinder Louisiana, Vinton Louisiana, Shreveport and Choctaw in Oklahoma, Las Vegas was her favorite playground, which we visited for many years. Her casino motto was, "I never met a slot machine she didn't like; I just liked some better than others." And "it's not gambling if your winning!" By happenstance and a little luck on her last casino trip, she hit the big Jackpot on her sevens! woohoo!!!! It's so beautiful how life works sometimes.

Our dear gentle, sweet, strong, caring, supportive, loving, selfless, kind, funny, smart, durable, resilient, Mother, MeMe, Junebug, Junie; what a wonderful and fulfilling life you have given us all, we will be forever grateful, you will be missed, and thought of loved by all of us for the rest of our lives!  Thank you for the many memories and stories we will continue to share.

The service honoring our Mother's life her will be held Saturday, November 23, at 4:00pm, the visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
