Julian Muñoz Jr., 83, a lifelong resident of South Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1941, in Wharton, Texas, to the late Julian and Augustina Muñoz.

Julian was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elva Ninfa Muñoz; his parents; and his siblings: Anselmo Muñoz, Eduardo Muñoz, Julia M. Soliz, Lupe Gutierrez, and Cruz Muñoz.

He is survived by his four loving children; Julian "Poppy" Muñoz and wife Debbie, Jo Ann Betancourt and husband Jesse, David Muñoz and wife Laurie, and Michelle Muñoz. Julian was a proud grandfather to Jesse "Bubba" Betancourt Jr. and wife Priscilla, Jason Allen, Julian G. Betancourt and wife Janeth, David "D" Muñoz Jr. and fiancée Jessica, Erika Muñoz Knupple and husband Joseph, and Victoria Muñoz. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Alliana, Nathan, Jesse III, Julian Jr., Christina, Damien, Isabelle, and Luke. Julian is survived by his dear sisters; Vera Hewitt, Cate Robles, and Tina Cardenas, along with their families and a large extended family who loved him deeply.

Julian will be remembered for his laughter, quick wit, and deep love for his family. He brought joy to every family gathering and took pride in annual traditions — especially watching the Astros, Texans, the Super Bowl, and the World Series with his loved ones.

Dad, Grandpa, Popo — we will miss you dearly. Your memory will live on in our hearts, and we'll continue to honor you in all the ways you taught us to love, laugh, and come together.

Now reunited in heaven with the love of his life, Elva, we take comfort knowing you are together again. Give a big hug to all our loved ones who are with you. Heaven has gained another angel.
