Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and cherished friend, Joyce Shannon peacefully returned home to be with the Lord, surrounded by the loving presence of her family. Joyce was a woman of deep, unwavering faith and boundless devotion, who lived a life marked by selfless service, quiet strength, and abundant love for both her Savior and those around her. She beautifully embodied Romans 12:10: "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor," consistently placing the needs of others before her own with grace and humility.

Born in Mountainburg, Arkansas, Joyce moved to Houston in 1948, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and community. In January of 1953, she began dating Bobby Shannon, the love of her life. Their courtship blossomed into a lifelong partnership when they married in November of that same year—a marriage defined by steadfast love, shared purpose, and joyful companionship.

In March of 1973, Joyce and Bobby became devoted members of Sagemont Church, where they faithfully served for decades. Joyce's dedication to ministry was both tireless and inspiring. She poured her heart into countless roles, including outreach leader, nursery coordinator, personnel committee member, first-time guest visitor team member, V.I.P. lunch worker, and ordinance team participant. Together, Joyce and Bobby served in baptism and the Lord's Supper ministries and were warmly familiar faces as cheerful greeters, welcoming all with genuine kindness.

Joyce had a particular passion for ministering to women, investing deeply in their lives with wisdom, encouragement, and compassion. She served faithfully on the holiday brunch team for 19 years, participated in Mothering Matters, the advisory team, and the women's leadership team, and led groups through I Connect. She was also a founding member of a ladies' prayer group, creating a space of fellowship, strength, and spiritual growth for many.

Above all her many roles and accomplishments, Joyce's greatest joy was her family and dear friends. She was a constant, loving presence—never missing a game, a birthday, or an opportunity to connect with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, often filled with laughter, lively game nights, and heartfelt conversations. She treasured both grand celebrations and simple, meaningful moments, whether during holidays with family or quiet lunches with friends.

Joyce's radiant smile, gentle spirit, and generous heart touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. While her absence is profoundly felt, there is great comfort in knowing she is now joyfully in the presence of her Lord.

Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Shannon. She is survived by her children, Leslee Kaspar (husband Craig Kaspar) and Lana Shadwick (husband Bob Price); her five grandchildren, Kristin Kaspar, Katelyn Roos (husband De Wet Roos), Corbin Kaspar (wife Madison Kaspar), Grayson Shadwick, and Reagan Shadwick; and her four great-grandchildren—Leighton Kaspar (6), Joshua Roos (4), Landyn Roos (2), and Sloane Kaspar (1)—with two additional great-grandchildren expected. Her tender love and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of those she held most dear.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joyce's memory to Sagemont Church, designated for the Women's Ministry.

A celebration of Joyce's beautiful life will be held at Sagemont Church on Friday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
