Joe Sink, age 74, of Hallettsville, Texas went to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 16, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. The oldest of five children, he was born to Joe and Betty Sink on November 23, 1947 in Houston, Texas. He was a 1966 graduate of Jesse Jones High School.

He married the love of his life and his best friend, Shirley Robertson Sink, on July 28, 1967 at Woodridge Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. They were married for 55 wonderful years. They had three children, Casey, Carey and Courtney, and lived in the Southbelt area of Houston until 2015. They were members of Park Place Baptist Church in Houston for many years, where he served as a deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher. Later, they were members of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas and Calvary Baptist in Weimar, Texas.

After working many different jobs, Joe found his calling and passion in education. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1991 and taught at Williams Elementary for 6 years. During this time, Mr. Sink pursued and earned his master's degree in 1998. In 2000, he was hired as an Assistant Principal at Southmore Intermediate where he faithfully served for 16 years. He loved the students, administrators, faculty and staff of Southmore Intermediate and made a tremendous impact on the community where he served.

After retiring from Pasadena ISD in 2015, Joe and Shirley relocated to "The Farm" in Hallettsville. They enjoyed some very happy times with family and friends while discovering new hobbies such as working cattle, gardening, and working on numerous projects together. Here, Joe was able to share with his grandchildren his love for the outdoors, as they enjoyed hunting and fishing together. Some of his favorite activities were attending performances and sporting events in which their grandchildren participated.

Joe is survived by his wife Shirley, son Casey and daughter-in-law Lori, son Carey and his wife Kimberly, and daughter Courtney Higgins and her husband Tommy. Grandchildren Caleb, Spencer, Mitchell, Sadie, Kyle, Kade, Isaac, Jacey, Asher, and Selah. Sister Carolyn Utsey and her husband Jimmy, sister Judy Foster and her husband Mark, brother Ellis Sink and his wife Rose, brother-in-law Gerald Robertson and his wife Carolyn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Linda Davis and nephew, Rickey Williams.

Please join Mr. Sink's family and friends for a Celebration of Life at Southmore Intermediate on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11am led by Troy Sikes and Coby Cagle.
