On Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 6:52pm, after a lengthy illness, Joseph "Joe" Harry Canniff at 91 years, 10 months, and 7 days, passed away peacefully, at his home in Houston in the presence of his loving family.  He is now at home with his Lord and Savior.

Joe was born at home on November 29th, 1931, in what at the time was rural Harris County, TX (present day South Houston, TX) on a road that still bears his family name.

Joe served his country after enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, becoming a communications petty officer on Kwajalein Island in The Marshall Islands of The Pacific.  Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Joe gave his heart to the Lord, accepting Jesus as his Savior.  Beginning in 1955, his passion for Christian ministry had him working for the next 65 years in various Christian ministries.

Joe's working career was spent as an electronics engineer for NASA contractor Lockheed at NASA Johnson Space Center, where he engineered, built, and tested many important projects in America's Space Program.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Harry Brownell Canniff and his mother Mary Jane (Brown) Canniff; his sister, June Loretta Burt; his daughter, Anita Gail (Canniff) Rogers; his beloved mentor, T. C. Gammage; and his much beloved aunt, Maud E. (Canniff) Griffin.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pansy Ruth (Dixon) Canniff; his children Sharon Canniff (Cliff) Meyer and son, Joseph Stephen (Dana) Canniff; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Christian Temple Assembly of God Church Wednesday, November 15, at 11:00am., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the reception at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
