Jose Luis Guzman was born in La Vega, Dominican Republic at a young age he and his family embarked on a journey that took him to the bustling streets of New York. By his late teen years, he found his way to Houston, Texas, where he would go on to spend the majority of his life, creating a home and building lasting memories in the vibrant city he came to love.

Jose Luis, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. Known for the joyful and prideful moments spent with his children Giovanni and Marlene, who will dearly miss his unique essence, charismatic and sometimes innocent personality but more than anything they will miss spending quality time with their beloved Father. They will carry forward his legacy with pride and honor, just as Jose Luis did for those who came before him.

Jose Luis found immense joy in the precious moments spent with his grandsons, Leonel, who shares a birthday with him and his "mini me" Andres, both had a special bond with their abuelito.

Jose Luis' palate was as diverse as his heart, relishing in Dominican, Chinese, Italian and Mexican cuisines. He enjoyed drinking a cup of hot coffee in the mornings with some pan dulce, he loved honey buns and anything as sweet as his heart.

During his years as a respected business man in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where he lived over 13 years, he earned the endearing nicknames 'El Güero,' 'El Tejano,' and 'El Don' from those who admired and supported him.

Jose Luis' legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Friday, March 22, from 5:00pm. until 8:00pm. with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30pm.The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saturday, March 23, at 2:00pm.
