Jon Albert Nelson passed away peacefully the evening of Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born in Chicago on February 25, 1948 to parents Fred and Cordelia (Betty) Nelson. He graduated from Tilden High School in 1967. At a very young age, Jon had a fascination with aircraft. His extensive career began when he enlisted with the United States Navy on March 8, 1968 where he had ambitions to be a pilot. He loved teaching and traveling while enlisted. He later taught avionics and began his final path of his career when he joined Continental/United Airlines as an aircraft technician. He retired in 2018 as a Crew Chief with 32 years with United Airlines and over 50 years total in aviation.

Jon was an avid and popular member of his local American Legion Post 490. He enjoyed the comradery and attended events with them regularly. He was an enthusiastic fixer, doer and tinkerer. He never thought there wasn't something he could not fix on his own.

Jon Albert Nelson is survived by his very best friend and wife, Jeannie Nelson, his children, Kelly Gurevich and granddaughter Sophia, Jon Erik Nelson, Brittany Looney and her husband Nathan, his brothers Richard and his wife Nami, Russell and his wife Lynn, and brother-in-laws Jim Williams and Joe Morales, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, August 14, 2025. The graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, at 9:45am, Friday, August 15, 2025.
