Johnny Merle Fason, Jr., dedicated husband, father and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 8, 2023. Johnny was born October 26, 1949 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Johnny M. Fason and Catherine Jewel Favre.

John was a graduate of Milby High School in Houston, Texas. After graduating high school he went onto study law enforcement where he found his calling with the Houston Police Department. He completed the police academy in 1969, where he was in the graduating Class #51 in 1971. John served the Houston Metropolitan area faithfully with his genuine dedication and integrity each and every day. John's personality was perfectly designed for the position as he was an exquisite officer due to his mild manner and his sense of fairness and compassion to others. John loved his career and he always prided himself in making a difference in his community for the next 38 years, before retiring as a senior master peace officer in 2007.

John married the absolute love of his life, Joni on April 30, 1973. During their 49 years of marriage, they had two children, Steven Ray and Stacie Renee. John was the type of father that any child would be blessed to have as he always went over and beyond to ensure his children knew that they were his pride and joy. He was a loving and dedicated father, and would do absolutely anything for his children. John was determined to share in the lives of his children despite working long hard hours, he made sure to always make the time to attend any of their events, whether it be baseball games, softball games even as far as helping coach. The quality time he spent with his family was what brought him his genuine and complete happiness and joy in life.

After his retirement John was once again blessed and became a grandfather to his beautiful granddaughter, MaKenna Shaye. John then found a new love that made his life even more complete. MaKenna was her PaPaws baby girl and she always put a smile on his face like no other, she made him beyond proud and gave him a reason to keep going even as his health began to decline.

John was one of a kind, like no one you would ever meet. John always put everyone before himself no matter what the situation may have been simply because that was his character. John always made sure that he led by example to those around him.

John's legacy will continue to live on through his family and those who knew and loved him. To have known John Fason, was to love him and he will never be forgotten.

John was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Sr. and Catherine Fason, sister, Mary. John is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Joni of Pasadena, son, Steven of Pasadena, daughter, Stacie of Pasadena, and granddaughter, MaKenna of Pasadena and grandson, Dylan of Pearland.

The memorial service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Saturday, January 21, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Houston Police 100 Club.
