John Leroy "Zeke" Young, 78, of Houston passed away at his home Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Zeke was born August 29, 1944, in Shreveport, LA, to Hughes Taylor Young and Mildred Benge Young. A 1962 graduate of Sicily Island High School in Sicily Island, LA, he settled in Houston after obtaining a degree in chemistry in 1966 from Louisiana Tech University.

Following several years in the chemical industry, he devoted his life to Christian prison ministries for over twenty years.

Zeke was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia Holl Young. He is survived by his wife of 2-1/2 years, Helen Miller Young, his son, Carey Collins Young, both of Houston, and his sister Teresa Young Gerald of Ridgeland, MS.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, from 1:00-2:00at San Leon Community Church, 901 Avenue H,San Leon, TX. The Service celebrating Zeke's life will follow from 2:00-3:00.
