John Anthony Senkar was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 14, 1951. He was raised by two loving parents, Robert and Mary Senkar along with his three brothers, Bob, Michael, and Gary.

While in Ohio, he met the love of his life, Laura Jean Billeter and they were married on April 28, 1981. After being laid off from the auto industry, they made the decision to move and build their lives in Houston, Texas. At the time, they were unemployed, but felt like Texas was the place they would call home and raise a family. Selling everything they had, and with roughly $100 in their pockets, started the journey to Texas.

Arriving in Houston, Texas, unemployed and without a home to call their own, they set up a tent on the west side of the city. John took a job as a roofer and Laura as a meat wrapper at a large grocery chain. They worked hard to save, and after two weeks moved into an apartment in Pasadena, Texas to start their lives together. Even though they didn't have much in terms of "stuff", they had each other's love. God had indeed provided and little did they know, God was ordering their steps.

In 1983, they gave birth to their son, John Adam, and in 1989 gave birth to their daughter, Genevieve Kristene. They ultimately moved to the Sagemont area and raised their kids in the church. Sagemont Baptist Church became a second home and a place where ultimately the entire family would come to know Christ as their savior.

In 1996, Laura was diagnosed with a rare and vicious cancer. After six years she lost the fight and Jesus called her home on April 27, 2005. John lost his wife 24 years and 364 days before their 25th wedding anniversary. While John knew she went home, it shattered his heart. It brought to light that life is short and we're not promised tomorrow.

He made it a point to deepen his relationship with his kids and loved them beyond words. He loved spending time with his family, friends, fishing, classic cars, racing, and life.

On September 4th, 2024, he fell asleep in his chair and went to be with the Lord. He's now rejoicing and dancing on the streets of gold with Laura and all the Saints that have gone before. While his family will miss him beyond words, we know that soon and very soon we will be reunited together. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held Friday, September, 27, from 8am until 9am, a celebration of life will follow at 9:00am. at Sagemont Church Chapel Guests can park in lot B and follow signs in chapel.,1300 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston, TX 77089. The inurnment will be held at  Forest Lawn Cemetery at 12:00pm. Floral arrangements should be delivered to the church.
