John "Wesley" Clark, 82, of Alvin, Texas, formerly of Pearland, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025.

Born on February 14, 1943, in Dyess, Arkansas, Wesley—also lovingly known as Papa, Daddy, and Butch—lived a life full of hard work, laughter, and love. He was the proud and devoted father of Troy Clark (daughter-in-law, Melissa Clark) and Tacy Campbell (son-in-law, Richard Campbell), and the forever-cherished grandfather of Sydney Murphy, Trey Clark, Kayne Kidder, Kyler Kidder, Carson Wald, Chase Campbell, Cole Campbell and David Womack. Wesley was also a beloved great-grandfather to Madeline Mays and Grayson Murphy. He is deeply missed and survived by his sister, Debbie Criddle, along with many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Opal Clark; his brother, Shelby Clark (sister-in-law, Ella Jane Clark); and his twin sisters, Florence McCallister and Helen Clark.

A self-made man and skilled craftsman, Wesley successfully owned and operated his own paint contracting business for more than 30 years. In time, he brought his talents and strong work ethic to Pearland ISD, where he worked until retirement. He was the kind of man who left everything better than he found it.

A gifted carpenter, Wesley tackled every project with love and passion—no task was too big or too small. His craftsmanship helped build not only several homes, but life-long cherished memories, including a family beach house and several other homes that stand as a testament to his skill and dedication. Wesley was also an avid hunter with a deep love for the outdoors—though perhaps not quite as deep as his love for storytelling. He spent many joyful years doing what he loved with the people he loved: hunting, fishing, going on trail rides, and camping. Wesley never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and welcoming nature made everyone feel at home.

Wesley's life was marked by unwavering faith in God, love of his family, friends and his many pets, compassion for others, and a heart full of joy. He had a special gift for bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His steady presence, kindness, and unforgettable stories have left an enduring mark on the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The world got a little dimmer when he left us—but his impact on the lives he touched, the spaces he made better, the family he loved so deeply, and the stories we'll always carry with us.

A Celebration of Life to honor Wesley Clark will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Peevey Funeral Home, 12240 Beamer Rd, Houston, Texas 77089 followed by a reception at Pearland Parks & Recreation Center, 4141 Bailey Rd, room 2, Pearland, Texas 77584.
