With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of John Edward Baker. Age 60. Born in Valparaiso, Indiana. John died on June 20th at his home in Houston, Tx. John was preceded in death by his parents George Baker (1991) and Winogene Steele Baker (2009). John is survived by his brother, Mike Ysmel; His daughter, Elizabeth Sanchez; and his beloved granddaughter Gabriella Gomez.

John was a proud alumnus of the Culver Military Academy. He often reflected upon his time there as one of the best experiences of his life. He held an associate degree in computer science from Ball State University. He enjoyed a long career in the automotive industry using his computer science background and love for tinkering and specialized in car hardware components and parts.

From a young age, John was a committed Boy Scout, swimmer, and animal lover. He was an avid poker player, with a pragmatic and compassionate nature. He loved his friends, family, and the many rescue animals he had throughout his life.

A private memorial service will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan, MI, where his parents and maternal grandparents rest. Date TBD. Last Week of July 2023. Please reach out to the family directly for information and contributions.
