Jimmie Lamar Gibson, 79, was born on December 20, 1946, in Camp Seale, Texas, to Roy Eugene and Opal Gibson. He passed from this life on September 4, 2026, in Olla, Louisiana.

As a teenager, Jim was always busy. He mowed yards and sold Christmas trees, fireworks, and rabbits, and he loved to talk about how many he could sell.

He proudly served our great country as a U.S. Marine through two tours in Vietnam. He worked as a plant operator for many years and retired from Solvay Chemicals.

Jim loved serving the Lord and was a long-time member of Greater Life Church in Webster, Texas. His lifetime of service includes Sunday school superintendent, bus ministry leader, and as part of the usher team for the better part of 20 years. He was also willing to take on whatever other work needed doing around the house of the Lord. He often called his daughter, Marlissa, to recount his wrestling matches with the ice machine. He kept the flags looking their best, ran errands and bought supplies for the kitchen, the office, and the ushers.

Jim appreciated a good bargain. He enjoyed going to flea markets and finding "special" gifts for friends and family—things such as little flashlights and ink pens.

Jim loved with a big heart. He cared deeply about everything and everyone around him. All who knew him would agree that he was a good man—a man of God, solid and steadfast. For us who knew him, the world is somehow a lesser place without him in it.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Johnnie; his infant twin brother, Larry Gene; and his former wife, Rachel Wall Gibson.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Busby Gibson of La Porte, Texas; his daughter, Marlissa Springer and her husband, Jon, of College Station, Texas; his two grandchildren, William Springer and his wife, Morgan, and Rachel Springer, all of College Station; his brother, Bobbie Gibson and his wife, Sherry, of Many, Louisiana; his sister, Tracy Rowe and her husband, Joe, of Joaquin, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

Until that glad reunion in Glory, we will all miss Jimmie Lamar Gibson.  Husband.  Dad.  Brother.  Friend.

Interment will be Saturday, September 12th, at 11:00 AM at Grand View Memorial Park;8501 Spencer Hwy Pasadena, Tx. 77505.
