Jim P. Kinnison was born in Freestone County, Texas on October 25, 1937. His family then moved to Houston in 1943. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by wife and daughter at age 86 on Jan 30,2024. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Betty) Kinnison, his daughter Lisa Kay Sneed, four grandchildren (Erica Lane and spouse Tim, Kimberly White and spouse Rodney, Jeff Sneed and spouse Lindsey, and Jennifer Sneed), six great-grandchildren (Harper, Everett, Emma, Joshua, Ryleigh, Jaxon), and his sister Virginia, always called Sissy. He is predeceased by his sister Ann Ward, and his mother and father Sim and Clara Kinnison

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1954. He served his country as an aircraft director on the carriers USS Hornet and USS Lexington until 1958.

The GI Bill helped the couple buy their first home.  In 1961 Jim took a job at Carnation Milk Co, He drove various sized trucks during his 33 years at Carnation/Oak Farms including house to house delivery. After retiring from Carnation, he bought his own 18-Wheeler and drove until he was 70.

Jim was an enthusiastic fisherman. He and the family were at Port Bolivar nearly every weekend each year to fish until the weather was too cold. Friends and family always had fresh seafood to eat. During cooler weather he and his team hunted at the Hill Country deer lease. He and his friends being outdoorsmen (and women) processed their own meat, primarily making sausage, chili, and steaks.

Jim Kinnison had a great sense of humor, loved his family and friends, and will be missed by many.

The memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 5, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home 12440 Beamer Road, Houston Texas 77089.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society.
