Jerome Francis Maskel (Jerry), loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 11, 2023 at the ripe old age of 90, surrounded by family and prayer, as these were most precious to him.

He is survived by his daughter Lynne Christensen, daughter Laurie Branham and her husband David, granddaughter Cali and grandson Cory, daughter Lisa Wagner and her husband Pete, grandson Caleb, and daughter Leigh Ann Trejo and her husband Nef.

Jerry was born on November 17, 1932 in Streator, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Maskel, and his loving wife of 54 years, Judy.

After high school, Jerry completed his studies at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1955. Shortly thereafter, he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed overseas in Spangdahlem, Germany as a 1st Lieutenant. While in Europe, he enjoyed traveling and photographing the many towns and people he met. Those memories are captured in slides that are still enjoyed today. After active duty, Jerry joined the Air Force Reserves as Captain, ending his years of service in 1965.

While working as an accountant for ITT, he was smitten by a beautiful redheaded coworker named Judy. They soon married in Illinois and moved to Texas with the promise of a job offer and a new home. Jerry and Judy were blessed with 4 daughters, raising them in the Catholic church of St. Francis Cabrini, where they were involved in many groups and activities. In later years, Jerry participated in golf tournaments with his coworkers at Lockheed Martin and church friends. Jerry was a stalwart at Lockheed, retiring after 20 plus years as a budget forecaster, working alongside his daughter Leigh Ann, often interjecting his "dad jokes" and impish Irish humor whenever he could.

Jerry had a love for family and faith, and he exhibited a quiet strength as a provider and father until our Heavenly Father took him home to be with his wife Judy. Many summers were spent with him at the helm of the station wagon, driving to Illinois to visit family during the summer months. Holiday Inn's with an indoor pool and slide were a bonus. Many happy memories of whiffle ball, volleyball, lightning bugs and snap peas from the garden will never be forgotten. Jerry was an ever-present dad at home as well. He came home from work and always made time to throw "high skyers" in the air for his daughters to try and catch, the ball disappearing high in the sky. In later years, you could find Jerry watching sports in his beloved recliner with Judy in the kitchen, as they were inseparable. Time did not diminish their love and commitment for each other, and they will remain in our hearts and minds forever.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, August 17 at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, 77089. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, August 18 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook Street, Houston, 77034.
