Jeneanne (Gist) Sims Bishop, a resident of Pasadena, Texas, passed from this life on August 4, 2026 at age 84.  She was born in Centralia, Illinois, on December 30, 1941 to Garvin Forrest and Neva Nell (Pyle) Gist.

In her early childhood years, Jeneanne moved with her family from Illinois to Denver City, Texas and then to Seminole, Texas, where she graduated high school.  She went to nursing school in Lubbock, Texas, married, and moved back to Seminole to start her family.  While her children were small, the family moved to the Houston area, in the early 1960s, and she remained there throughout her life. Jeneanne was a member of the Parkview Church of Christ in Pasadena.

In the late 1990s, Jeneanne retired from Federal Express, having been a delivery driver.  Previous to her employment with Federal Express, she was an elementary school teacher, a substitute school nurse, an assistant for a polygraph examiner, a dump truck driver, and a Hostess Twinkie route delivery driver.  She was capable, determined, and always enjoyed the challenge of mastering something new.

Many were the talents and interests Jeneanne possessed, including cooking – she was the Queen of the Cobblers -  cake decorating, melon carving, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, writing; she could also repair appliances, lay flooring, and perform car maintenance. Jeneanne enjoyed music of almost any genre.  Her backyard wrap-around porch boasted a veritable Garden of Eden, where she would hostess beautiful teas for friends and holiday parties and family gatherings.  Having a knack for turning the simplest of things into sheer luxury, she especially enjoyed bestowing this particular gift on the little ones in her life.  Enjoying a wonderful imagination, Jeneanne regaled the young and old with her captivating storytelling, including convincingly creating new words with quite intriguing origins.  Serving and encouraging others was a life-long passion, and countless individuals were most fortunate to have been the recipients of her hospitality. Jeneanne had an ardent love for family and friends, church and neighbors, and her engaging personality led to frequently making new acquaintances wherever she went. Jeneanne loved and was loved, and she will truly be missed beyond measure - until we meet again.
