It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Mae Rodriguez (also known as Granny R), who went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2024, in League City, Texas. Jeanette was born on March 27, 1926, in Evansville, Indiana, to Richard and Corinne Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her brother, William G. Hill.

Jeanette married Howard S. Cohoon Jr., and they had three children: Darla L. Cohoon, Ronald S. Cohoon, and David A. Cohoon.

Jeanette later met Andrew Rodriguez while he was doing construction work at her workplace. Andrew noticed Jeanette and David walking across the parking lot and would ask David about his mother. They fell in love and married on November 22, 1976. They shared a love for large family meals, parties, and playing games into the early hours of the morning. Jeanette and Andrew enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 23 years until his passing in February 1999.

Jeanette is survived by her three children: Darla Jenks, Ron Cohoon, and David Cohoon and his wife, Charlotte. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer Moreno, Ashley Long, Blake Cohoon, Trent Cohoon, Jeremy Morris, and Eric Lucas. Additionally, she leaves behind ten great-grandchildren: Brittany, Andrew, Jacob, Rylie, Reagan, Reese, Easton, Merrick, Bailee, and Bree, as well as two great-great-grandchildren: Judah and Mila.

Jeanette had a passion for crafts and was an exceptional painter, excelling in ceramics and wooden crafts. She won many blue ribbons at craft shows with her dry brush painting. Jeanette and her daughter Darla started Darjan's Crafts, attending craft shows in Houston and Southeast Texas to sell and compete with their crafts.

Despite her declining eyesight due to macular degeneration, she remained active. In March 2014, she joined the Hellfighters Christian Ministries, a motorcycle ministry, as a Footsoldier (a non-rider). Her son David is also a member. Jeanette enjoyed baking cookies with her great-grandchildren to distribute to the homeless and needy in Houston and Galveston. She cherished being part of the Hellfighters, serving the Lord, and helping others, particularly veterans and the homeless.

Jeanette was a joyful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her sense of humor, laughter, smile, and love for music, which was always playing in her welcoming home, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at 11;00am., Saturday September 28th, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
