Jean M. Perez passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2021 at the age of 77. Jean was born in Laredo Texas on February 18, 1944 and was raised in Houston. She was the oldest daughter of Eugene and Lilia DeHoyos. She leaves behind sister Elizabeth May DeHoyos Gonzalez, and brothers Samuel DeHoyos, wife Terrie, Jim DeHoyos, wife Robin, Lawrence DeHoyos, wife Cecelia, Abel DeHoyos and David DeHoyos, wife Lisa.

Jean grew up in Houston, attended Milby High School and graduated in 1962. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and was a member of the CYA (Christian Young Adults) group where she met George D. Perez Jr. (Dan) and married on October 17, 1965.

She was a wonderful wife and mother making sure her family was loved and well cared for. She loved the holidays and she and Dan held many legendary Christmas Eve parties for family and friends. Her favorite song to sing to her grandchildren was The Twelve Days of Christmas that she would continuously sing throughout the holiday season. She loved sewing, cooking, reading the paper, music, watching DIY shows and giving kisses to her grandchildren.

Jean worked and retired from Southwestern Bell after 30 years. After being at home for a few months filled with restlessness, she decided to go back to work to keep herself busy and spent several years at Pier One Imports and then finally at James Avery.

Family was very important to her. Jean had the biggest heart, always thought of others and kept up with the lives of all her family, including her cousins, nephews and nieces.

Jean is survived by her husband Dan, her children Danna Smith and Christopher (Chris)Perez and her twin granddaughters Taylor and Mia Smith.

A memorial gathering in Jean's honor will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 6-8:00pm at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, Tx 77089.
