Lillian Eugene "Jean" Threadgill Mooney passed away peacefully at Windsong Care Center in Pearland, Texas on September 17, 2022. She was born November 20, 1931 in ­­­­­Houston, Texas to Roy E. and Vivian A. Threadgill. She was the beloved sister to three brothers: James, Roscoe and Roy Threadgill.

Jean loved her family, visiting and SHOPPING with her friends and was active in her church. She was a member of Pearland First Baptist Church for many years and transferred her membership to Shadycrest Baptist Church. Jean is a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.

Jean retired from Pearland Independent School District administration office with 32 years of service. She started at Brookside Elementary and treated all the students as if they were her own. Jean's favorite response about retirement when asked was "I do what I want to do…. when I want to do it".

Jean met her husband Ernest and married January 19, 1949. They lived in Pasadena, Texas until 1962. They built their home beside Grandpa and Grandma Mooney and lived on Stone Road until Ernest passed away in 1987.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Vivian Threadgill and her husband, Ernest Benjamin Mooney Jr., her brothers – Roy, Jim, and Roscoe Threadgill. She leaves behind her children, Sonny Mooney, Jim and Sylvia Mooney, and Jack and Sandra Mooney; grandchildren: Brian Mooney (Tracey), Jason Mooney, Cheryl Grantham (Steven), Keely Rhodus (Charlie IV), Nathan Mooney (Lydia) and Jillian Mooney; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Mooney, Mia, Callie and Charlie Rhodus V, James and Landon Grantham, Emma and Gus Mooney, Julia Kate and Ernest Mooney; several nieces and nephews and twins – Jean Morrison (Kent) and Joan Pierce (Robert).

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston 77089, with visitation prior to the service starting at 1:00pm. Jean will privately be laid to rest next to her husband at South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions in Jean's name may be directed to the charity of your choice.
