Imogene "Jean" Ann Dusek, beloved mother, "Nani," and friend, was called home by her Heavenly Father on November 28, 2025, at the age of 89. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unconditional love that touched everyone she met.

Jean was born on June 9, 1936, in St. John, Texas, to Rudolph and Annie Besetzny. Raised on a farm in Schulenburg alongside her siblings, she learned early the values of hard work, faith, and family. After completing her education, Jean pursued nursing in Hallettsville—a natural calling for someone with her compassionate spirit. She later moved to Houston with her sister Rina, where she worked in the Labor & Delivery ward at St. Joseph's Hospital until her marriage.

On April 13, 1958, Jean married the love of her life, Dennis L. Dusek, whom she first met at a local dance hall. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage filled with devotion and partnership. They raised four children and built a home centered on faith, family, and service. Jean was a deeply loving and dedicated mother. She never missed a piano recital or baseball game, and she stood steadfastly by her children through life's triumphs and challenges. As "Nani," she carried that same spirit of care and joy, embracing her role as a grandmother with boundless love and good humor.

Jean excelled as a homemaker. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly crafted clothes and blankets for her family, and in the kitchen, she created meals so delicious that Dennis often joked there was no need to go out to eat. Her grandchildren treasure memories of baking sweet treats alongside her, churning butter with a cherished family heirloom to make those desserts even richer. Every gathering at Jean's home felt like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting—a glimpse of a bygone Americana where worries faded, joy and laughter filled the air, and a delicious meal was always waiting at the table.

Gardening was another of Jean's passions. Her backyard flourished with flowers, vegetables, and fruit, and she delighted in sharing oranges, canned pears, or pickles with family depending on the season.

Jean's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devout Catholic, she was a founding parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. With a servant's heart, she dedicated herself to ministries that cared for the sick, elderly, and disabled. She sewed quilts for those in need, delivered the Eucharist to the homebound, and was always among the first to bring a comforting meal in times of sorrow.

Jean is survived by her children Natalie (Charles) Giardina, Neil (Travecca) Dusek, Keith Dusek, and Ken Dusek; her sister Rina Besetzny Hanel; eight grandchildren—Brittney (Chris) Legorreta, Kacey (Chris) Rojas, Jennifer (Tim) Lienhard, Kristina McDonald, Matthew (Moe Moe) Giardina, Jordan (Stephanie) Dusek, John Vincent (fiancée Lindsay Fields) Giardina, and Hunter Dusek—and 15 great-grandchildren. A large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends also remember her. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her parents Rudolph and Annie Besetzny, her brother Ivan Besetzny, nephew Doyle Hanel, and niece Bridget Manuel.

Jean's life was a beautiful reflection of unwavering faith and devotion to family. As matriarch, she provided strength and unity, guiding her loved ones with grace and compassion. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, comfort is found in knowing she is reunited with Dennis—sharing once again in the joys of companionship, perhaps even the simple pleasure of splitting a beer together.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation, the Rosary, and the Funeral Mass on Friday, December 12, 2025 at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., the Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
