Janet D. Salinas was born on October 25th, 1943, in Gainesville, Missouri, the first child of Dair and Jeanette Short. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother "Nana" and friend. Janet went to her peaceful resting place with the Lord on September 13th, 2022, where she joined her loved ones in Heaven.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Robert A. "Bob" Salinas, beloved sister, Jackie Short McGraw, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Schaatt Salinas.

Her zest for life and legacy will carry on through her children, Robert "Bobby" Salinas, Vicki Salinas Guzman and husband John Guzman, Terri Salinas and wife Tara Megilligan; Her grandchildren, Ashley Guzman Mireles and husband Trin Mireles, Dylan Guzman, Taylor Salinas Vasquez and husband Rolando Vasquez and "Little" Bobby Salinas; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jackson, and Jordan Mireles, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Jan was a cosmetologist by trade and owner of numerous beauty salons in the Houston area, while assisting Bob with the management of his engineering firm, Cadastral Surveying & Mapping, for over 30 years, as well as being a full-time mother. She loved watching her children grow and pursue their passions and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren compete in music events and competitive sports. Jan enjoyed country music, dancing and loved her Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and her dogs Prissy, Dallas and Molly.

Jan was a lifetime committee member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the Pasadena Metro Go Texan Rodeo. She chaired multiple seats on the trail ride committees, B-B-Q and social committees, and had the honor of carrying the Texas Flag on horseback in the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo Parade.

Her profession and passions led to lifelong friendships that she cherished unconditionally. To say that Jan loved large and lived life to the fullest is an understatement. Jan knew someone everywhere she went. She never met a stranger, but when she did, they instantly became her friend. Jan was always there to help anyone, whether it was to lend a supportive shoulder or offer a bold piece of advice, any shared secrets were always safe with Jan.

Most importantly, she loved her family and her extended families in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Missouri.

Jan was blessed with many great friends who were always there to help anytime she ever needed them. Her family and friends will forever hold a special place in her heart for them, you each know who you are. Mike and Martha, you were her most trusted companions and there are not enough words to express our gratitude for your years of love and support.

Go in peace knowing that she is happy and healthy again and that the dance floor in Heaven has gained one heck of an Angel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, September 22, 2022, and the funeral service will be at 12:00pm Friday, September 23, 2022, both held at Peevey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
