James Melvin Murphy IV "Jimmy," 56, of San Leon, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2026. He was born on February 28, 1970, in Pasadena, Texas.

Jimmy found great joy in bringing people together – whether he was grilling a meal for family and friends, spending a day on the water, or playing a round of golf. He cherished time outdoors and the memories made with those he loved most.

First and foremost, Jimmy was incredibly proud of his son, Cole, who was the glue that held the Murphy family together. He took immense joy in watching Cole grow into the remarkable man he became and often spoke of him with admiration. Cole was his pride and joy, and nothing meant more to Jimmy than seeing him carry on the Murphy family business legacy.

In his later years, Jimmy found a great love with his wife, Kim. They loved enjoying a ride on the Harley on the open road, sitting out on the water, and spending time at home with their beloved dogs.

Jimmy and Kim's dogs – Axel, Harley, Melvin, and Taya — held a special place in his heart and brought him endless joy. Jimmy was known for his incredible work ethic and built a respected career in industrial cleaning, where he spent many years working as a project manager. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and June Murphy and Fred and Bernice Fear.

Jimmy is survived by his parents, Jim and Jan Murphy; his wife, Kimberly Murphy; his son, Cole Murphy; his bonus daughters, Simone Bailey and Sunese Cotton; his sisters, Jana Tarkington and her husband, Jay Tarkington; and Jill Taylor and her husband, Mike Taylor; his nephew, Jaby Tarkington; his niece, Stella Taylor; and the many people fortunate enough to know and love him.
