James Hector Gonzalez of Houston, TX, was born July 26, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas. Passed away in the early morning of January 15, 2026, in Baytown, TX.

James made his lifelong home with family and friends, pouring his time and heart into the people and the communities around him. He grew up playing baseball and football which continued throughout his life, taking pride in staying connected with his friends and classmates he met along the way.

For more than 20 years, James held a familiar and respected presence in the softball and baseball community alike, enjoying the thrills of coaching and umpiring. He believed in the motto that "sports can shape a person", demonstrating that through the young athletes he mentored, touching many lives.

James built a dedicated career by earning his electrician certification from MTI on August 17, 1991, He later went on and earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from University of Phoenix on September 27, 2008. Through every stage of his life, James uplifted others, creating lasting relationships rooted in kindness, loyalty, and love.

Above all else, James treasured time with his daughters and the people he loved, especially during the holidays, road trips, and cheering at the ball games. He found joy in long days of golf, Island Time, the occasional casino trip, and of course, a sweet piece of pie.

James is survived by wife Cheryl, and daughters, Jamie Gonzalez and Kimberly Blackburn.

He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by all who loved him.

The family will receive friends at Peevey Funeral Home, Sunday, January 25, from 2:00pm until 3:00pm the service will follow at 3:00pm.
