It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved James "Jim" Edward Stinson, who departed this world peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of family, at the age of 78. Born on July 13, 1947, in the small town of New Iberia, Louisiana, Jim was the cherished child of Melvin Eugene Stinson and Jeanette Stinson. He has now joined them, along with his brothers Glen and Larry, in eternal rest.

Jim, known by many as "Diamond Jim," was a devoted father, friend, and businessman whose life was a testament to resilience, drive, and humor. A proud graduate of Alvin High School in 1965, he embarked on a journey that saw him flourish in the asphalt business. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he owned companies and also had passions that included raising cattle, racehorses, hunting, and fishing. Jim was a man who genuinely cared for people. His kindness was steady, sincere, and he was always a phone call away. He was always ready to help, to listen, or to show up when someone needed him most.  Jim believed deeply that hard work was the foundation of success and lived that belief without complaint or excuse.

He was a man of multiple talents, known by many for his quick wit and warm smile. Jim possessed an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome, seen, and valued. Whether with a song or a joke, his kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted children: Cole Stinson, Jesse Stinson, and Sheridan Truss, alongside her husband Sydney Truss. His legacy continues through his seven adored grandchildren: Alexis Heptinstall, Wyatt Stinson, Juliette Stinson, Levi Stinson, Jessa Friedell, Audrey Truss, and Lennox Truss. He was also blessed with three precious great-grandchildren: Vivian Heptinstall, Joan Heptinstall, and Mary-Agnes Heptinstall. Jim's love extended beyond his immediate family, including his dedication to Casa Hogar Girls Home, and those who will miss him dearly.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at HCA Med Center and Dr. Sartori. A warm thanks to his many friends who helped provide compassionate care for Jim as he needed it over the years.

A celebration of Diamond Jim's life will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026. A gathering for visitation will start at 1pm with the service following at 2pm. Peevey Funeral Home is located at 12440 Beamer Rd., Houston Texas 77089. This will help by continuing his spirit of generosity, leaving a legacy of love that extends through the generations.
