James "Jim" Allen Duke of Pearland, TX passed away August 12, 2023.  Jim was born June 29, 1936 in Waxahachie, TX where he grew up and went to High School.  Upon graduation, Jim joined the US Army where he trained as a Paratrooper and had tours of duty in Japan and Germany.  These experiences fueled a love for travel that he carried throughout his life.

After his military service, Jim moved to Houston, Texas where he met and fell in love with his wife of 61 years Shirley Ulrich Duke.  In the late Sixties Jim and Shirley moved to Pearland, TX.  Jim started a career as an expeditor and worked for several companies in the energy industry.  This job allowed Jim to travel for work and a schedule that allowed him to spend time with his family.  Jim spent many weekends with his daughter Therese and her horse as well as coaching his son Billy in Pearland Little League for 7 years.

Jim was an avid reader, and he continued his love of travel into his retirement years.  Jim also enjoyed golf, running, snow skiing, and scuba diving in his later years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Shirley Duke, son Billy Duke and his wife Lori, his daughter Therese Crawford, Grand children Travis Duke and his wife Makenzie, Adam Duke, Lauren Hector, Shannon Shaw and her husband Kade, Kristin Westcoat and her husband Tyler and their son Ollie, and Kelci Crawford.

A celebration of life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 4pm.
