It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hy Van Tran, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Hy's story is one of extraordinary resilience and determination.

Born in the Phuoc Tinh, Vietnam, Hy's remarkable journey led him from his homeland to Louisiana, where he spent his formative years and warm spirit that would become his hallmark, before making Houston his home. His move to Houston opened a beautiful new chapter where he was blessed to meet and build a loving life with his wife, Kim Chi Mai.

For the last seven years, Hy confronted cancer with remarkable bravery and grace, enduring many rounds of chemotherapy with quiet dignity and resolve. Even during this difficult health journey, his zest for life never dimmed—he continued to explore new passions and spend meaningful time with his loved ones.  All who knew Hy will remember his joyfulness, his love of connecting with others, his amazing brisket and pizzas, and his unwavering commitment and devotion to his loved ones' wellbeing.

His generosity extended far beyond his immediate family, and his warm presence brought comfort and joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Hy is survived by his loving wife Chi, his children Katrina, Jana, and Duy, his grandchildren Brooklyn, Declan, Claire, and Zayne, and countless family members and friends whose lives were brightened by his spirit. His devotion to his family was his defining feature, and his beautiful legacy lives on through them. Though we say goodbye for now, Hy's memory will forever illuminate our hearts—a beacon of joy, courage, and the beautiful life he created and shared with all of us.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Thursday, May 15, from 11:00am until 3:30pm, the Mass will follow at 4:30pm at Vietnamese Martyr Catholic Church. The service will be held Friday, May 16, at 9:00am also at Vietnamese Martyr Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
