Hershell Sherman Terry passed away September 11, 2024 peacefully at his home overlooking Canyon Lake. He was 88 years old.

Hershell loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He proudly served his country from 1958-1960 in the U.S. Army. Many lives were touched when people met him with his generous spirit and unwavering friendship. From the crack of dawn spent in hunting blinds to quiet afternoons by the lake with a fishing rod in hand, and long treks through the wilderness, Hershell found true joy in the outdoors.

After 38 years in the Petrochemical industry, he had plenty of time to enjoy perfecting his golf swing, traveling around with his loving wife and friends, and being on his boat on various lakes around Texas.

Hershell is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Charline Terry, his parents, Olen and Opal Terry, and his sister, Dolores Winfrey.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Thigpen and her husband Gary, his son, Stephen Terry and his wife Theresa; his grandchildren Preston Thigpen and wife Sunday, Colton Thigpen, Lauren Simmons and husband Jake, Kristen Rogers and husband Jack, Logan Terry; his great grandchildren Ellie and Easton Thigpen, Sawyer Rogers, Emory Simmons; his brother, Jimmy Terry, and his many beloved nieces and nephews.

The service will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 10-11am at Peevey Funeral Home, graveside will follow at 2pm at Brookside Cemetery in Houston.
