Henrietta (Hank) Leona Wayland passed to our Lord on March 28, 2023, of natural causes at the age of 95. She was born on October 23, 1927, to Emil and Annie Kutac in Sweet Home, Texas, and was married to Judge Howard Melvin Wayland for over 53 years until his death in 2007. Hank is survived by two children and a daughter-in-law, Howard Wayland Jr. (and wife Drenda) and Linda Wayland. She has 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are H. Michael Wayland (wife Amber), Andrew Wayland (wife Ginna) and Janie Trask (husband Ryan). Hank loved her great grandchildren Huckleberry, Leona, Jude, Seth, Abigail, Kaitlyn, Eleanor, and Kensington. She is also survived by her sister and her husband Joyce and Milton Dittrich of Houston, TX and brother-in-law Dwight and Betty Wayland of Pineville, Arkansas. She is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews who greatly loved her.

Hank was one of the last surviving "First Responders" to the 1947 Texas City Explosion where 581 people lost their lives and thousands were injured. She helped treat many injured from the accident at St. Joseph's hospital in Houston from this explosion. She graduated in 1947 as a Registered Nurse through St. Joseph's Hospital affiliation with the University of Houston. Hank primarily worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Hank gave great love and care to her family and friends. She was always there for them. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Star of Hope Mission in Houston.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Thursday, March 30, from 6pm until 8pm., the funeral service will also be held at the Funeral Home, Friday, March 31, 10:30am. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
