Harold Stephenson "Steve" Parks Jr., 78, also known as "Parks" by his coworkers and friends, passed away on October 26, 2025 in Kemah, Texas surrounded by loved ones.

Steve Parks was born in February 1947 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to parents Joy Lynn and Harold Stephenson Parks. He graduated from Sulphur High School, after which he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, then attended and graduated from medical school through LSU in New Orleans. Steve completed residencies at the Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas. He was board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in head and neck surgery. Steve also served in the Navy, providing medical care to indigenous groups in the American Southwest.

Steve was a talented surgeon and caring physician, serving thousands of patients in Beaumont, Texas and the Golden Triangle during his 40 years of practice. He was a partner of Beaumont Ear, Nose and Throat which later became Southeast Texas Ear, Nose and Throat. He cherished his close relationships with his work family at SETENT.

If you can think of an adventure, chances are Steve did it. From bear hunts in Alaska, to celebrating life with friends on bayous, Bahamian islands, and the Texas Renaissance Festival, to flying through the eye of a hurricane, Steve was the epitome of a work hard, play harder mentality. His stories are legend, and family and friends have enjoyed hearing of his wild days for years. In quieter times, Steve enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing guitar, cooking, and watching a good mystery with great company.

Many loved ones remain and cherish the memory of Parks. He is survived by his daughter Cristen Lynn Grooms and her husband Jag of Katy, Texas; son Guy Stephenson Parks of Mandeville, Louisiana; and daughter Stephanie Joy Robberson and husband Garrett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jaxon Adler and Killian Leigh Grooms of Katy, Texas; Charlotte Ann, Francesca Marie, and Olivia Grace Parks of Mandeville, Louisiana; and George Parks Robberson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sister Debra Lynn Lee and husband Richard of Sulphur, Louisiana and brother Dennis Leroy Parks and his wife Roxanne of McGregor, Texas also survive Steve, as do many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jitesh Joshi and the wonderful staffs of Houston Methodist Clear Lake and Harbor Hospice who cared for Steve in his final days.
