Gladys Maude Howe Donham, 97 years of age, entered into rest, January 24, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Gladys was born in London, England, November 10, 1924. She was the oldest of three children. She lived during WWII and the bombing of London. She worked in a Spitfire Airplane factory riveting parts of the planes, and she also worked in the office.

She met her husband in Reading, England, and they married in 1946 after the war ended. She came to America on the Queen Mary and landed on Elis Island on Easter Sunday at sunrise. She and her husband lived in man places until they settled in Houston, TX in 1956 where she met her new best friend, Iris, another war bride from England. Gladys and Iris lived across the street from each other for years and were known to talk on the phone for hours, causing the distress of their daughters who often tried to reach them while they were talking.

Gladys loved sewing, reading, collecting antiques, and genealogy research. She enjoyed a good cup of tea and talking with others about her rich history and hobbies.

Gladys never learned to drive, but she took care of her family and her husband until he died at 90 years old. She will be laid to rest with her husband of 76 years today, their wedding anniversary. May they rest in peace together forever.

Gladys is preceded in death by: Husband-William Beatty Donham, Infant Son-Bryan Stuart Donham, Son-William Beatty Donham II. She leaves behind: Son-Robert Michael Donham, Daughter-Deborah Denice Donham Kerr & son-in-law, Richard Kerr Grandchildren-Richard Donham, Tina Donham Daly, Dustin Donham, Chanel Donham, Christopher Kerr, and Michael Kerr and several great-grand-children.

A graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 2:00PM.
