Gilbert Zamora Munoz, 82, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on August 21, 2026, in Pearland, Texas.

Gil, as he was known to family and friends, was born on July 10, 1944, in Rockdale, Texas, to Manuel G. Munoz, Sr. and Josefa Z. Munoz.

Gil graduated from Milby High School in 1964. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served in the Air Police and later as a member of the Strategic Air Command's Elite Guard. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

After his military service, Gil worked for Stewart & Stevenson in Houston before beginning a long career in automotive sales at dealerships throughout the Houston area.

Gil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas Z. Munoz, Manuel Z. Munoz, and Frank Z. Munoz.

He is survived by his sons, G. Steven Munoz and Christian R. Munoz (Leigh), and his grandson, Ryan Munoz.He is also survived by five siblings: Amador Z. Munoz, Alma Munoz Gutierrez, Robert Z. Munoz (Deyanira), Reynaldo Z. Munoz, and Rosemary Z. Munoz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gil will be interred at Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service with full military honors will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Houston National Cemetery,10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, TX 77038
