Gilbert Martinez age 69, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born on March 4, 1953 in Pasadena, Texas to Gilbert and Carmen Martinez. He was the oldest of eight children, five brothers and two sisters.

Gilbert grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from South Houston High School where he met his wife Kathy Summerlin Martinez. They were blessed with three children, six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Gilbert had a passion for music, hot rods and cooking. In his young adult years, he was in a band and played the trumpet. He later developed an interest in auto mechanics and became an Instructor at UTI and then San Jacinto College where he retired. He also had a passion for cooking, especially for others.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Jaime Martinez, daughters Trisha Baker and Sonya Martinez. His grandchildren Aaron, Alex, Kelly, Savannah, Alia and Abby and great grandson Titus. His siblings John, Louis, Joe, Bob, Rose, Sara and Charles. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Peevey Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
