Born January 31,1932, In San Antonio, Texas to Jose Aguilar and Elena Aguilar, Gilbert Aguilar passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 at home in Houston, Texas. Gilbert grew up in San Antonio, Texas where he met his wife Helen Aguilar at Fox Tech High School. In 1949 Gilbert enlisted in the Coast Guard at age 17. Gilbert and Helen married in July of 1952. During 28 years of active duty, he was stationed at multiple Coast Guard bases around the country and deployed to the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Gilbert retired in December 1976. After retirement from military service he earned his Bachelor's degree from University of Houston. After a few years of working in the oil industry he spent 19 years volunteering for Pasadena ISD.

Predeceasing Gilbert were his parents Jose and Elena Aguilar, his brothers Ralph and Tony Aguilar, sisters Helen Martinez and Lilian Stein.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Helen Aguilar; his son Joe Gilbert Aguilar and his wife Mary their sons Dustin, Nathan and Daniel. His son Robert Aguilar and wife Lucia and son Ryan. Gilbert also has 10 great grandchildren.

The family will welcome friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089.

Mass will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 14, 2025, at St.Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road, Houston, Texas 77089.
