It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George L. Rios, 76, on January 8, 2025. Born on February 29, 1948, in Reynosa, Mexico to Manuel and Bertha Rios, George lived a life full of love, adventure, and service.

George served in the United States Navy before dedicating 30 years of his career to HB&T Railway, followed by an additional 15 years with BNSF Railway. Trains were his passion, and his contributions to the railroad industry remain a testament to his work ethic and dedication.

Beyond his career, George had a zest for life. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and traveling with his beloved family. He cherished cruising and often took trips to the casino, where his adventurous spirit always shined through. Above all, George was known for his warmth, generosity, and infectious sense of fun. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and his family meant the world to him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie Rios; his daughter-in-law, Deana Rios; 6 grandchildren; siblings Blanca Rios, Rene (Julia) Rios, and Bertha (Jose) Pereria; along with numerous other family members and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Bertha Rios; his brothers Antonio and Manuel Rios; and his sons Sean Rios (2020) and Adam Rios (2022).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Assist The Officer Foundation.

George will always be remembered for his love, kindness, and devotion to those around him. May he rest in peace.

The family will welcome friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston 77089, with the service starting at 3:00pm.
