Fred Andrew Brieden Jr. of Pasadena, Texas, was called home to heaven on Sept. 25, 2026, a few weeks before his 87th birthday.

Fred was born in Freer, Texas, on Oct. 24, 1939, to Fred Sr. and Nan Brieden and was the second-oldest of five children. While in high school, he played football for the Freer Buckaroos and later earned his GED. Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, commissioned out of Fort Ord, California, and stationed in Guam from 1959 to 1961, where he achieved the rank of private first class.

Fred was a small-business owner in Houston and Pasadena for more than 30 years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena, where he faithfully led Bible study for many years. Fred’s greatest love and deepest joy was always his family. Affectionately known as “Bubba” to many, he always believed the more the merrier when it came to family and friends. Throughout his life Fred enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, water skiing and playing golf. He was an avid sports fan of the Houston Texans, Houston Astros and the PGA Tour.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Andrew Sr. and Nan; sister, Nancy Lois Hill (Wes Hill); and brothers, David Leon Brieden and John Michael Brieden. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ruth Fischer Brieden; daughter, Melanie Anne Templin; sons, Fred Andrew Brieden III (James Thomson) and Lance Aric Brieden (Donna Brieden); granddaughter, Exie Templin; step-grandsons, Matthew Shealy (Patricia) and Richard Shealy (Taylor); and five step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca “Becky” Alice Cruse (Joe Cruse III); sisters-in-law Merri Lyn Brieden and Mary Christine Brieden; a large number of beloved nephews, nieces and cousins; and his first wife, Jo Nell Harvill Huff (Bill Huff).

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Peevey Funeral Home in Houston. Visitation with the family will be held at First Baptist Church Pasadena, Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. The funeral service will follow with military honors at 2:00 pm in the chapel. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11:00am. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
