This world parted with another beloved St. John, very possibly the kindest and sweetest of them all on October 18, 2025 at the age of 87 in Houston, Texas. Those who knew Charlene well can confidently proclaim that her love was abundant, soft and unconditional, given freely to family, friends and anyone she crossed paths with.

Born on August 8, 1938 to a humble milkman William Gentry and his wife Amanda Gentry, Charlene spent her childhood in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She was the last survivor of this close family of five that included her older brother Albert Kevil "AK" Gentry and younger sister Willene Snodgrass. Charlene often spoke of her inseparable relationship with her father who always had her by his side, even on his milk routes.

Charlene was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Keith St. John of which she had the deepest connection with and her oldest son William "Bill" St. John. She is survived by her youngest son Lance St. John, his wife Christy and stepdaughter, three granddaughters Hollis Binion, Kirsten Chism and Maegan Collins, their devoted husbands, six great grandchildren and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who cherished her deeply.

In the early 1970s, Keith and Charlene made a permanent move to Houston where they would raise their boys and spend the rest of their lives with tons of family and even more friends, all witnesses to their most affectionate union of over 60 years. She dedicated much of her professional life as an x-ray technician at the Clear Lake Diagnostic Clinic.

Keith and Charlene shared love, friendship and a deep respect between them, never passing on an opportunity to be in one another's company. She never missed their evening walks, a cherished daily ritual that spoke to their enduring bond or a mass here at Mary Queen, a testament to her undying faith.

Rarely would you catch Charlene without her face in a book or a kindle or in front of a baseball game cheering on her beloved Houston Astros, a definite super fan. Her favorite book was the original Little Women. And if the television was on, it was on Highway to Heavan, Everybody Loves Raymond or a classic film starring her on screen crush, the great John Wayne.

More important to Charlene than any story or game were the people closest to her, the great grandchildren especially in her final years. Their hopes were constantly high to pay her a visit and empty her candy dish which she always made sure to keep full for them.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Charlene's caregivers who walked alongside her in her final chapter, especially Karin, Sherne and Sister Joan. Your compassion, patience, and love brought comfort not only to her, but to all of us.

The Celebration of Life for Charlene will be held at 11:00am.,Thursday, November 6, at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546.
