Fidel "Fi" Zavala, 77, was called to meet his Lord on January 21,2024 after years of battling Alzheimer's disease.

Fidel was born October 11, 1946 in Robstown, TX to the late Fidel and Simona Zavala.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patsy, sister, Mary Bo Villarreal, children Richard, Kimberly, April, (husband Aaron), and Kris.  He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Apolonia, Jazmine, Angelyn, Emily, Jacob, Oliver, and Henry. Fidel was recently preceded in death by his brother, Israel.

Fidel enlisted in the US Air Force where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam war. Fidel moved to Houston where he met the love of his life, Patsy, in 1973. They married in 1976 and raised four children together. The family moved to Kemah in 1994 and Fidel was able to earn an Associates Degree in 1997. He retired from Celanese Chemical Company after 27 years and went back to work for the US Postal Service where he retired after 9 years. Fidel and Patsy were able to spend several years traveling the world together, making precious memories cruising with friends and family. Fidel loved to sing, dance, play the guitar, and give wise advice to those he loved.

Fidel was a doting husband and father. His smiles and laughter were contagious. Fidel was a proud grandpa to all his grandchildren to whom he affectionately referred to each and every one as "Sweeps". Fidel was a kind and gentle man with a big smile and a huge heart. He was full of wit, humor, and so many quotes that will be repeated by his loved ones for many years to come. Fidel will be deeply missed and live forever in our hearts.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Thursday, January 25, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, the service will be held Friday, January 26, at 3:00pm, also at the Funeral Home.
