Mary Evelyn Smith passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 12th, 2025, at the age of 91. Born October 18th, 1933 in Gueydan, Louisiana. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Adam and Rose (Calatine) Marceaux, her husband of 67 years, Euger(Junior) Smith Jr., her daughter Kathleen Smith and her brother Dupre Pierre Marceaux.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Smith and Kenneth Smith. Six grandchildren, granddaughter Kristina Pretzsch Jackson and husband Don, grandson's, Gary Pretzsch Jr. & wife Sarah, and Stephen Pretzsch and wife Shanna, granddaughter Melanie Stryk and husband Taylor, and granddaughters, Alison Smith and Caroline Smith. Evelyn had eight great grandchildren, four great-granddaughters, Olivia, Hadlee, Harper, Hope and four great-grandsons, Griffin, Connor, Cameron and Hayes, and one additional great-grand child to be revealed soon.

Evelyn was an advocate for her two deaf children and learned sign language to always be able to communicate with Kathy and Kenneth. Family was always a priority to her. Holiday and birthday celebrations were events we all enjoyed. She loved to read, liked to sew skirts and clothing for her granddaughters, crocheted beanies for cancer patients. She liked to travel and see new places and visit with her close friends.

She will be immensely missed, but never gone from our memories.

The family will receive friends Friday January 24th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the rosary being offered at 6:15 p.m. The funeral service, honoring her life, will be held Saturday, January 25th, at 10:00 a.m., all held at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089. Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery, 223 Cemetery Road, Winnie, Texas.
