Eva Lina "Bebe" Chandler Snell was born on September 6, 1932, to Dennis B. Chandler and Gladys Allison Chandler in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the early morning hours of March 28, 2025.  She was the youngest of six children and the only one not born at home. The family lived in Ida, La. and the family home is still residence to one of her nephews.

Bebe married her seventh-grade sweetheart, Murrell Quinton "Gus" Snell, on March 22, 1952 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Our family was all together this year to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago.

Bebe was a faithful servant of the Lord and used one of her many talents as a church organist and pianist for many years.  Up until just a few years ago she played for both the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Trinity, Texas. She was also a quilter, an artist, and a fiddle player in the Clear Creek Bluegrass Band. The tune accompanying the slide show today is Bebe playing, "Ashokan Farewell," a rendition of the piece used in the Ken Burns Civil War documentary series. We have many pictures, quilts, paintings, and even some LPs, cassettes, and CDs of her fiddle playing to remind us of her love for all those things. She loved animals and had many cats over the years.  She and Gus also had one "little boy in a dog suit" named Casper.   One additional item I cannot fail to mention is her love-hate relationship with the Astros! Just ask Gus, her immediate family or our close friends and they have stories about watching the Astros with her!

Bebe is survived by her husband, Quinton "Gus" Snell; her daughter Beverly K. Snell, son Andrew W. Snell and her daughter-in-law Jackie Snell; grandsons Drew and Daniel Snell and granddaughter Savannah Snell. She is preceded in death by her parents and all five of her siblings. She had one sister, Maurine Chandler Herring, who was 18 when Bebe was born, and four brothers: Robert Chandler, Weldon Chandler, Don Chandler and Larry G. Chandler.  She will be greatly missed by those of us who remain. Her husband, Gus, loved her so well and took such good care of her. Bebe loved her grandchildren and prayed consistently for them. There are numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom are here today. I hope they know how much their Aunt Bebe loved them.

The service honoring her life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3:00pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089,
