On Friday, September 5, 2023, Heaven gained an angel, Gene Moore passed away at the age of 84.

Gene was a great friend to many, the best cook in the world, and proud PawPaw to five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a wonderful dad to three children, Eugene "Cookie" Moore, Jr, Kizuwanda "Kizzy"  Shafaye Moore Jackson, and Kenny Moore, and a loving husband to Maria Isabel Salatan Moore.

Gene was born in Torras, Louisiana on February 8, 1939 to Nealy Scott and Mary Moore. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and after a few years he reenlisted and joined the U.S. Air Force where he served over 20 years. Gene remained active in the military community after retiring from the Air Force and enjoyed base activities and functions as a proud Vietnam Veteran. Upon leaving the military, Gene spent 20 years working in the petrochemical and engineering industry.

Once retired, Gene spent his days cooking, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with family and grilling meals for family and friends. He never passed up a party or family gathering.

He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Plants preferred to honor his love of gardening.

A memorial service for Gene will be held at Peevey Funeral Home Friday, September 22, at 11:30 A.M., after a viewing for family and friends at 10:30 A.M.

The final resting place will be at Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 at 1:30 P.M.

Repast will be held at Sagemont Annex located at 11300 S. Sam Houston Parkway East, Houston, Texas 77089 at 3:00 - 5:00 P.M.
