Erwin Gustav Meeh Jr, 91, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2022. Erwin was born May 21, 1931, the eldest son of Erwin Gustav and Dorothy Rees Meeh, in Irvington, New Jersey. He graduated from Lehigh University as a Chemical Engineer and returned to the country from whence his father had immigrated following WWI, serving with the U.S. Army in post-WWII Germany. He and his family moved to the Clear Lake, TX area in 1962, where he had a successful career in the plastics industry.

He loved the Lord, and he loved his family. He is survived by his wife Dagmar, his children David (Cindy), Holly, Tom (Terry), and Peter (DeAnne), and stepdaughters Michelle (Parmjit) and Andrea, whom he embraced as his own. He had seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Betty, Robert (Delphine), Marjorie, sister-in-law Darlene. His brother Richard and brothers-in-law Howard and Frederick predeceased him.

Erwin loved to travel with his family and many summers were spent enjoying month-long camping vacations throughout our beautiful, vast country, a cherished memory for his children. He and Dagmar enjoyed many driving trips in this country, as well as travel in Germany, and an outing to the symphony, opera, or theater was a treat. He also introduced his family to sailing, which became a central part of all of their lives. Erwin had a kind and gentle personality and loved engaging others in conversation wherever he happened to be, including in the stands of his kids' swim meets, campgrounds, his local church, or The Gathering meetings he attended until recently. His self-proclaimed nickname was the Dessert Fox- he loved sweets!

Erwin and Dagmar were honored for many years as Friends to International students attending the University of Houston/Clear Lake,inviting them to their home, celebrating holidays and birthdays with them, and standing in for parents who could not be present at their graduations. They have kept in contact with many students from different countries in addition to their active involvement in the churches they attended, first at Grace Community Church and then at Sagemont. They also served in Chuck Colson's Prison Ministry. No matter how much time it required of him, Erwin was always ready to lend a hand, whether moving, or transporting friends to doctor's appointments. He had great patience, and his generous and giving spirit will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd, 77089, Friday, December 2, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, 77038.
