Ernesto "Rico" Medina, age 76, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on August 7, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on November 4, 1948, in Houston at Methodist Hospital to Bennie and Catalina Medina.  A graduate of Austin High School and San Jacinto College.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Thailand and Vietnam during the war, where he worked with the K9 unit. Working in commercial HVAC for over 35 years as an estimator and project manager, he was loved and well respected in his field.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jackie Medina as well as three daughters, Susanne and husband Fred Cook, Eva and husband Jacob Stewart, and Angela and husband Matthew Moore. Grandchildren, Matthew Ward and Nathan Ward, Preston Wright and Joseph Wright, Audrey Moore and Emmett Moore, and Julian and Taeko Ortiz and their children, Nina and Benjamin, great-grandchildren, Noah Ward and Jackson Ward. Also, siblings and their spouses, Bennie and Elizabeth Medina, Josie and Cruz Gebara, Mary Lou Pham-Ky, Johnnie and Mary Jane Medina, Ricky and Sylvia Medina, Raymond Medina, and Manuel and Eve Medina; along with many nieces and nephews and dear family friends.

Dad was a man of incredible faith, humor, integrity, kindness, generosity, and patience and he left a lasting imprint on everyone that knew him. He loved to watch baseball (especially his Astros), play golf whenever he could and travel with his family. He shared these loves with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Catalina Medina, siblings Joe Lewis Medina, Jessie Medina, and Delores Almendarez.

We find comfort in knowing that Dad is with our Father in Heaven and that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 am. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Peevey Funeral Home 12440 Beamer Rd., Houston, TX. 77089. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery 1310 North Main St., Pearland, TX. 77581.
