Ernest Lavelle Smith Jr. was born July 2, 1939 and passed to our Lord and Savior on at the age of 86 years old at home on June 4th, 2026. He was born, raised and received all his education in El Dorado, Arkansas and was married to Barbara Jo House Smith on January 6, 1961. He was a long time resident of Houston, Texas where he resided until his death. He was the son of Ernest Lavelle Smith Sr. and Floyce Pearl Cox Smith Shultz. He was a devoted husband and father. He retired as an electrician and welder. He also served in his church (Sagemont).

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters Lawana Rose Harmon and Sybil Jean Smith. Surviving him are his children; Susan Ruth Myers (Kevin) and Loren Allen Smith (Lorilee Ann deceased ). Grandchildren; Samuel Henry Gill (Patricia), Stephanie Michelle Jesser (Brandon) and Steven Curtis Gill and Numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.

The service honoring Ernest's life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
