Elvin Bryan Parker, 94, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025 with his family by his side. Elvin was born on October 28, 1930 in Smiley, Texas to Frank and Della Parker. He cherished his rural upbringing and was known for his countless stories of childhood adventures. Elvin had 3 brothers and one sister. He graduated from Smiley High School in 1949. In 1951 Elvin joined the U.S. Navy and spent 3 years aboard an aircraft carrier in the Korean War's battle zone. His time in the Navy provided him with even more stories that he shared throughout his life. While docked in San Francisco, Elvin met Theresa Iubatti. After a brief courtship they eloped to Reno in 1953, confident they had found their perfect match. Together they raised five children; Buddy, Sherry, Karen, Cindy, and Randy.

Elvin worked for Ford Motor Company while attending college at night. He later owned and operated a Texaco gas station for several years before returning to his Texas roots. In Houston he began a career in real estate and eventually transitioned into air conditioning repair work. Elvin had many interests and cultivated numerous hobbies throughout his life; fishing, scuba diving, poker, astronomy, and most notably, genealogy research, at which he excelled.

A fun loving man and friend to all, Elvin was always ready with a joke, often corny but always good for a laugh, and a story about days gone by.

Elvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Theresa; his grandson Beau; his sister Nelda; brothers Truman, Norris and Edwin. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Charles Baker, Buddy (Kim), Sherry (Gary), Karen (James), Cindy (Wally), and Randy; his grandchildren, Jim, Erica, Natalie, Ryan, Kyle and Rosie; his seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Elvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, at Peevey Funeral Home from 10am until 11am with Funeral Service celebrating Elvin's life at 11am. Pastor Mike Cervantes will be officiating. Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery, Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11am.
