Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elva G. Reyes, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and cherished member of our family. Born on May 28, 1949, in Wharton, Texas, Elva leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and devotion to the people who meant the most to her.

Elva was a woman whose life revolved around her family. She found joy in bringing everyone together, and her love was often expressed through her cooking. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where food brought people together and memories were made.

Elva held her relationship with God and her church close to her heart. Her faith was an important part of who she was and helped shape the devotion she poured into her family. Her life was a testament to the importance of faith, family, and standing strong through life’s challenges.

Elva was also a devoted Houston Astros fan who enjoyed cheering on her team. But some of her greatest joys came from being a grandmother. She took pride in supporting her grandchildren and was always happy to show up for their events and activities. Their accomplishments brought her happiness, and her presence was a reminder that they were supported and celebrated.

Above all, Elva loved her family deeply. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Victor Reyes III; her children, Yvonne Garcia and her children, Josh Garcia and his wife Lucero, Erik Garcia, Kathryn and her husband Steven Chavez and Mia Villarreal, Anthony Garcia and his wife Erica and their children Dominique and Pilar, Kimberly Reyes Minjares and her husband Nick and their children, Christopher, Skye, Samara and Calani and Kelley Reyes and Mark Gonzalez and their children, Jesse and Joseph, and nine great grandchildren (Maria, Deme, Dylan, Evan, Elias, Erik, Tessie Elva, Cecelia & Robert).

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Delia Sanchez, Robert Garcia, Ophelia Hernandez, Olga Rodriguez & David Garcia.

Elva is preceded in death by her father, Trinidad Garcia, Mother, Maria Dominiguez and Brother, David Garcia.

The love she gave so freely and the memories she created with those closest to her will forever remain in our hearts.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the impact of Elva’s life will continue through the family she cherished, the traditions she shared, the faith she carried, and the countless memories that will be remembered for generations. Her legacy will live on in family gatherings, in recipes passed down, in the cheers from the stands, and in the everyday moments that bring her loved ones together.

Elva’s life was a gift to those who knew and adored her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of her family.

The visitation for Elva will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 14, from 2:00pm until 3:00pm the service will follow at 3:00pm.
