Elsie Naydean Pierce Tremie, passed away on November 28th, 2024. She was the devoted wife of James Ervin Tremie and loving Mother of Felicia Tremie Burgess and Christopher James Tremie.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elsie was born on January 31st, 1940 in Red Lick, Mississippi. She moved to Port Acres,Texas with her family during the Spindletop Oil Boom of the 1940's and by her account had the "perfect" childhood. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and enrolled herself  in Port Arthur Business College on a work program where she earned her business certificate in 10 months. Elsie met  James "Frenchy" Tremie in 1958 at Port Arthur College. He was also a student studying television/radio repair utilizing his GI Benefits after having served in the Navy for 4 yrs. They dated for 3 years and were married on December 26, 1961 enjoying over 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2023.  They moved to Houston, Texas to pursue careers and raise a family. Over the years, Elsie was employed as a secretary with General Adjustment Bureau, Inc, International Harvester Trucks and State Farm Insurance where she met many lifelong friends.  They would build a family of two children, Felicia and Chris, who became the center of both of their worlds.

The majority of Elsie's  time was spent with family, grandchildren and friends. She loved attending all events for children and grandchildren and always put them first.  When she wasn't traveling to see her children/ grandchildren, she was traveling and supporting James in his softball and Senior Olympics adventures.  Elsie's hobbies included a love of reading and writing. Her true passion was researching ancestry for the family, which she pursued with skill and vigor at every opportunity.

One of the kindest souls on this planet, she was a gentle, giving woman who worked tirelessly to ensure that her family had everything they needed. She never met a stranger. She  thoughtfully engaged everyone in such a way that they felt comfortable enough to share details of their life stories…..of which she could remember practically every one. She was thoughtful in her gifting, extremely sentimental, somewhat nostalgic and beautifully curious. She was a great storyteller and a tremendous listener.

Early in life, our mother learned the importance of family and she instilled that in our family. She was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or just someone to talk with. She was a woman of strength who relied heavily on her faith as she taught us the importance of family and doing what is right.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband James E. Tremie, her parents Hiram Earl and Louie Pierce, her sister Rita Christiansen and husband Marvin, her brother, Buddy Pierce, and wife Juanita, Great-Niece Kristie Mitchell,  Parent-in-laws, Sidney and Marie Solieu Tremie. Sister-in-law; Neva Tremie Young  and husband Allen Young, Sister-in-law, Helen Tremie Manual and husband Robert and Niece Rachel Manual Abadie.

Elsie is survived by daughter; Felicia Tremie Burgess and husband Douglas, son; Christopher Tremie and wife Percilla, Grandchildren;  Laurin Moore (David), Elayna Shirley (Eric), Alyssa Williams (Tyler), Cade Tremie, Reagan Tremie, Page Harvey, and  Kaden Harvey. Great-grandsons; Harrison Moore, Rhett and Reid Shirley and many more relatives.

The service honoring Elsie's life will be held at 11am, Monday, December 9, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
