Elizabeth "Liz" Garcia, born April 16, 1953, in Kingsville, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 6, 2025. Liz was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her. She lived unapologetically as her loving, loud, boisterous, and fiercely authentic self, a quality that endeared her to all.

In June 1966, Liz and her family moved to Baytown, Texas, where she made her home and enriched the community with her vibrant spirit.

Liz was married to her husband, Alfonso Garcia, for 47 wonderful years. Together, they built a family rooted in love and joy, raising their three children: Linda Ann, Robert Jr., and Susanne Elisa. She adored her family and loved her husband, children, and grandchildren immensely. Her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother brought her profound happiness.

A true servant at heart, Liz dedicated her life to helping anyone in need. Whether it was driving someone into Houston, translating, filling out forms, or lending a listening ear, Liz was always there. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she met no strangers. If you crossed her path, you were instantly adopted into her family without hesitation.

Liz's unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She cherished her personal relationship with Him and found a church home at Grace Church, where she attended regularly and was actively involved in Grace Seniors. It was here that she cultivated even more friendships and deepened her connection to her faith community.

As the oldest of eight siblings, Liz had a unique bond with each of her brothers and sisters. She especially treasured the moments shared with her sisters, celebrating birthdays, milestones, and enjoying countless "girl getaways" whenever they could. These relationships were a testament to her deep love for family.

Liz was a proud and hardworking woman who took exceptional pride in her career at Luby's Cafeteria, where she worked for over 30-years. Her work ethic and dedication were unmatched, and she became a beloved figure in her workplace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elisa Lerma, Rafael Lerma, and Demetrio Diaz Deleon, as well as her brother, Martin Lerma.

Liz's legacy is one of love, service, faith, and family. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, children, grandchildren Jordan, Reagan, Olivia, Kennedy and Noah, great-grandchild Penelope, siblings, nieces, nephews and the countless friends she made along her journey. Liz's life was a testament to the beauty of living fully, loving deeply, and serving others selflessly. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Liz's life will be held at Grace Church Houston 14505 Gulf Fwy. Houston, Texas 77034 on Saturday January 11th, 2025 at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  A reception will follow at 12:00pm.
