Edward Dewayne Shippy, 62, of Galveston, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Friendswood, Texas, surrounded by family.

Born on September 5, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edward grew into a man defined by unwavering loyalty and a generous spirit. After graduating from Elyria High School, he chose a path of service, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he faithfully served his country for eight years. During his service with the Marines, Edward advanced through leadership positions and was entrusted with security assignments including weapons systems, international courier duties and diplomatic security at American embassies and consulates.  Edward achieved the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1990. Following his military service, Edward spent twenty-seven years in the coffee production and distribution industry, where he became a respected supervisor known for his deep knowledge and steady leadership. He spent many happy years in Conroe, Texas with his beloved wife, Debra, until her passing in 2010.

Affectionately known as "Uncle Buck" by his nieces and nephews and as "Ship" by friends, he enjoyed music, playing guitar and keyboard, and caring for his much-loved canines and felines. Those who knew him remember a man with a kind and selfless heart who instinctively put the needs of others before himself. Most of all, Edward will be remembered for building enduring friendships during his childhood, Marine service, and civilian life, unbound by time or distance.

He is survived by his siblings Steven (Kathy) Shippy, Linda (Gary deceased) Brown, Julie (Trevor) McGill, and Amy (Michael) Lewis; nieces Jennifer Young, Cassidy Anderson, Victoria Martin, Calida Brown, Ava McGill, and Abigail Lewis; nephews Tyler Garrison, Ian McGill, and Jack Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Lynn Shippy, parents Lonny and Cleta Shippy, and niece Tamara Zalud.

Friends will be received at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.

Edward had a lifelong love of animals and chose to financially support the Galveston Island Humane Society ( www.galvestonhumane.org ). The family humbly shares this for anyone who may wish to follow suit as a tribute to Edward's life.
