Edward Jessie Samford passed away on January 21, 2022. Jessie was born October 5, 1944 in Houston, Texas at the then new fancy Saint Joseph Hospital just outside of the downtown then. He was raised in Angleton, Texas.

He is a graduate of Brazosport College, attended the University of Houston and San Jacinto College-South. When a young man, he owned several successful companies in Brazos County, moving to Houston, Texas to attend college.

Jessie worked for Central Transportation System, Inc., owned Samford Management Resources, Inc. Looking to get into the pawn shop business he also worked for Easy Pawn, Inc. to learn the business and perhaps open his own shop. He loved the fast pace of the pawn business, and it was a good way to use his computer skills to the max. When he retired from Central he decided to try his hand at finance, so to the stock market he went where he had the best time growing his portfolio.

He is proceeded in death by his brother Dudley W. Samford, father Edward Paul Samford, mother Opal Stivers Samford, stepson James A. Babb.

Jessie is survived by: Brother and Wife: Jerry L. Samford and Linda H. Samford, Granddaughters: Brittaney E. Babb, Gabrielle G. Babb, and Madison N. Babb. Nieces and Nephews: Laura Samford, Anthony Samford and wife Carmen, Rebekah Short and husband Joe Short, Rachel D. Cornwall and husband Devin Cornwall, Great Nieces and Nephews: Gavin Short, Ashlyn Short, Aiden Short, Madison Short, Anthony J. Samford and Kaitlyn Samford.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of memories, Saturday, February 12, from 10:00am until 12:00pm. at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston,TX 77089.
